70 RR/GTX air grabber question - 06/25/19 11:17 PM

So I have been on the hunt for 70 RR/GTX and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about specific options or tell tale signs of options. I have noticed on some AG cars there is a hole above the heater hoses and I've noticed some claimed AG cars do not have this hole. Was it hit or miss, was it a plant thing, was it a 4 speed vs automatic thing?

Separately I've run across some V code 4 speed cars without torque boxes, any hard rule there?

I'm been around long enough to know never say never and there are no absolutes.

Thanks in advance, Kevin

If seen the hole above the heater hoses aswell. Think there is a dimple there from the factory. I used the dimple in 86 when I scored my A/G hood. Bought it right and wanted that hood so bad!!! Rick

So no torque boxes on V code 4 speeds in 70...……..interesting, yet on my 69 340 4 speed GTS, my 4 speed AAR, my 68 440 4 speed RT Coronet and my auto AC 69 RT Charger

Yes, from what I've seen the vacuum line pass through a grommet in that hole, are they on ALL factory AG cars? I understand it's a pressed hole as well not a cut hole, is that true?

I have seen the dimple on others as mentioned.

The other location I have seen the a/g hoses pass through the firewall for 70 Plymouth is the dimple about 1' to the right of the one shown in the photo. Remember 70 B bodies with a/g option were made at 3 plants. LA, Lynch Road and St.Louis. If I remember right LA used a different hole location than LR and STL. Hopefully someone will post a few photos.

Thank you good info guys.

"The other location I have seen the a/g hoses pass through the firewall for 70 Plymouth is the dimple about 1' to the right of the one shown"
is it the same height or down less visible like behind the valve cover or engine?

Can anyone answer the question if drilled or drilled and does anyone know of a legit AG car with a hole in one of these 2 locations?

All AG cars have to have a hole so that the vacuum lines can pass through the fire wall to the switch.

I don't have the pictures on this computer but I can provide the location for a legit AG car from St Louis

Yes, my best description is you have to reach up into the box to remove the front leaf spring hanger nuts. Or at least that is what I think of as torque boxes, the front has extra support as well but not sure how I would describe them.

On a 68/70 b body that box was only on hemi or rag top if you have any other b body with them some one put them on
