C-body 440 headers - 03/18/09 07:27 PM

Will B-body headers fit a 72 New Yorker? If not Who makes them? I cant pay an arm and a leg for'em. Or do I have a choice?

Some people have used them with some success. You may need a for clearance.
I have used the hedman shorty headers. You need the small mp starter.Anything else will cost you big bucks.Hooker makes long tube headers for c bodies but they are pricey and hard to find used.
Go to www.cbodydrydock.com there is a thread discussing headers for c bodies.

NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONOONONONONO!!!!

You will have to damage them SO BAD it isn't worth it, ask me how I know! Hooker does make a C-Body Super Comp header, Ceramic Header
5113-1HKR but for the price listed it would be better to get the TTI's. You might be able to make the shorties work on that, but I DAMAGED a pair Hooker B-Body headers putting them on my 71 SportFury...

Dennis at High Speed Welding did these after I went through 2 sets of B-Body headers they are custom 2 1/8 primaries dumping into a 3" exhaust (set up for future engine growth)and can be removed with the engine still bolted to the frame-I should have gotten these made before destroying the other two sets NOT CHEAP but PERFECT!

Good luck

Those look really nice.I would love to know how much they cost.Nice to know I can upgrade if I ever outgrow the 1 7/8 tti's.Not likely though.

Hooker 5113 without coating can be had for $350-400 if you look around and coating them cost about $150.

Last i checked TTi were 800 and change plus shipping. did this change?

if you want big performance, the Hooker Super Comps are a good choice. If you just want to upgrade over the stock iron logs, I've been very happy with the Hedman #78070 headers, which are a B body "shorty" header. They fit perfect with no mods, except as noted above they require a mini starter (which I put on all of my cars & trucks anyway)
