March pulleys - NE1 have experience with them? - 06/08/08 01:17 PM

Thinking about replacing the pulleys on my 440 (w/ power steering) with March V belt units. Anyone use them? what are the pros/cons?

thanks

Other than the initial $ I'm pretty happy with mine. Have them on 3 big blocks, they are true and easier to keep clean than steel. Some have commented on the clear peeling off ?

Any fitment issues or problems getting them aligned?

For the most part, no. I had to make a thin shim for the water pump pulley on one set-up and tweak the alternator brackets/spacers. When aligning the pulleys I found a 3/8" wood dowel to be a very helpful aid rather than eyeballin'. Hardware store sells them in 3' lengths. You'd be surprised how much that dowel helps.

Have them on 2 BBs and a SB.All work fine and are street friven.Mine have been on for 10 years. The kid puts probally 10K a year on his 62 300 with them and PS.Some will say they dont charge or cool right.I say bull.If your charging and cooling systems are up to snuff no problem.Mine rum on the 440 with a stock never been touched rad thats over 40 years old and runs under 190 even when its 90 here.Rocky
