Nobody really knows.
Just some letters that probably had some meaning at the foundry that cast engine blocks, back in the old days.

Would this be correct? Automotive Association of Quality Assurance?

Re: AAQA on the block - 05/18/19 01:09 AM

it's just foundry marks.

It is not a "max wedge" block

It is not a high nickle content block

It's not anything that adds value to the block, but there are many that will try to claim some increased value because of it.

AAQA has been found on all manner of blocks and heads, pedestrian or otherwise.

Like i replied earlier.
NOBODY has ever found out if at all what meaning, if anything, they stand for.
Some engineer took that to his grave, a long time ago.

Ok, then tell me where you heard that from, or read it?
I GOOGLED that, and nothing came up.
I know what SAE stands for, (Society of Automotive Engineers) and abbreviations for toolmaking, machinist, industrial, manufacturing, things as i have a background in that trade too.
But never heard of Automobile Associations Quality Assured, before in my lifetime.

Ok, you didn't make it up, but somebody did, to turn it into an urban myth.

Horse Pucky! It means All American Quarterhorse Association! Those engines were built to pull horse trailers.
