exhaust Mufflers BRAND for 70-Cuda 383 - 05/12/19 08:16 PM

Hello,
Hope some one has had to replace Mufflers on 1970's Cuda!
That can help make up my Choice on Brand to use??

Just fresh buildup my Cuda 383 with Stock Manifolds!!

Would like a mild "THROATY" Sound.
But able to carry on a conversation while driving .. Nothing RADICAL!

Would really appreciate some ones opinion on choice of Muffler Brands,, t
hey have had great experience but not loud!

thank you,
Sonny

I would probably recommend using the high flow versions from Accurate. There were two suppliers that used to have really nice sounding Cuda/Challenger R/T rear mufflers - Walker & Midas. The Midas mufflers REALLY sounded good, but they are long gone - Midas does not make their own mufflers anymore. The Walker mufflers were finally discontinued around 2000 - they sounded good also.

Best-sounding I've had on a 383 or Hemi have been Dynomax SuperTurbos.
Different sizes for the above, but either way they were fine inside the car, sounded crisp but throaty.

I’ve had both Dynomax and Magnaflows on70 Cudas. Much prefer the Magnaflows, and the stainless steel is a nice added bonus.

They are not radical, and not totally tame either.

Question to the OP is, do you want rear cannister-type mufflers like original, or just any oval mufflers to place in front of the rear diff?
