Throw-out bearing recommendation

Throw-out bearing recommendation - 05/04/19 05:01 PM

Whose throw-out bearing are you happy with?
I see Hays, Centerforce & McLeod on Summit's site that I can have Monday when this trans comes out for bearings & whatever else we find.
Basically stock 383 Road Runner, A-833, street car that may see a track for curiosity's sake one time.
Has a McLeod diaphragm in it that's not very old, nothing I can see through the inspection cover that looks problematic..
I'd prefer to have a TOB in hand just in case; hate doing something like that twice.
Maybe all 3 use the same bearing source, I don't know.
They're all around $54-$55 but price doesn't worry me.

The bearings are made by very few, sold by many. The ones I'd choose are National, SKF, and Timken. I'd pick Timken although it;s hard to say if there is any difference one could notice. Rockauto.com has them for less than $30. No way the clutch manufacturers build their own bearings, that's an entirely different realm of manufacturing. You can also buy just the bearing, less the cast iron carrier, for around $15.00.
