Any Chrysler Techs, 2011 T&C no crank - 04/14/19 01:29 AM

The wife's 2011 Town & Country is giving me fits, any helpful guidance will be appreciated. The problem's started about 1-1/2 years ago and has progressively gotten worse. The van has 230,000 miles on it, it's been pretty well maintained, and overall been a great van except the electrical gremlins. Every now and then it wouldn't start. When it won't start she could do a little routine and it would start: Depress brake, turn key, put in reverse, back to park, turn key off, release brake. Eventually she found that if she just held the key in the start position it would eventually start until it didn't earlier this week. There was no power except for the dome lights. Later in the day when she went to try starting it again, the doors had locked. Using the key to get in it set the alarm off. She put the key in to try starting it then the key wouldn't come out and it would not shift out of park. For whatever reason when we tried later we did get it to shift and got the key out. I had replaced the battery and starter about a year ago...no change. Yesterday I replaced the TIPM , as that seem to cause a lot of problem in these vans. This seems to have fixed the door lock issue, the horn, and the key will now come out with out issues. It has power to everything now but it won't turn over...i can hear and feel the fuel pump, and starter relay click when the key is turned to the start position, but the starter does not engage and turn the engine over. Any thoughts or ideas?

Thanks.

Jump over the starter and that will tell you if the starter is good or bad. Did you do the 12 count on and off for the tipm program? Did you push in the airbag fuse?

I had replaced the starter about a year ago, and it was not the problem then. I haven't jumped over the starter, will test that today. I did do the 12 second reset on the tipm.

Thanks.

Aren't those TIPM's vin encrypted? I replaced one in a 09 1500 and had to get the dealer to program it with the vin to get it to work.

Been a while since I got out of Chrysler service but I am almost positive they ARE vin encrypted
Now, whether that's your problem is not likely

But you need to verify B+ voltage at the starter connections before going any further

I can jumper pin 30 to pin 87 of the starter relay in the timp and make the starter turn the engine over. I am not getting voltage in pin 86? with the key in the start position.

Thanks!

With the key in the run position, when you jump pin 30 to 87 on the starter relay will the engine start and stay running?

No, engine cranks over, don't start.

Thanks
