Largest Tire on cop car rim to fit a 67 Monaco ? - 02/22/19 07:15 AM

My buddy Jim is building a 67 Monaco with cop car 15" rims, will 235 60 15 Cooper Cobras fit front and back? Or will he need smaller tires on front for clearance. Thanks

shruggy I would hope a 235/70/15 would fit? twocents (235/60s sound awful short, unless it's riding long & low?)

does he want wide tires or short tires?

per tire rack:
cooper cobra radial gt 235/60/15
7.2" tread width & 26.1" diameter (9.1" section width on a 7" wheel)
tire rack cooper cobra 235/60/15

cooper cobra radial gt 235/70/15
7.2" tread width & 27.9" diameter (9.4" section width on a 7" wheel)
tire rack cooper cobra 235/70/15

the big 15" tire that was available on a '67 Polara was 8.45x15" (8.45" section width)

roughly equivalent to a metric 215/78/15, in a perfect world would be 28.1" diameter

&

the smallest 14" tire that was available on a '67 Polara was 8.25x14" (8.25" section width)

roughly equivalent to a metric 205/78/14, in a perfect world would be 26.6" diameter

he still needs to check the fitment, the extra 1.5" of wheel width might put the tire too close to something & cause some interference, someone on here should have experience with a '67 Dodge C

I've only had '70-71 Cs & the 235/70/15s fit with 15x6.0 wheels

23570R15 ON 15X7 MAGNUM 500'S.
Lots of room in the rear even with fender skirts.
Backspacing on cop rims no different than Magnum 500's and seen plenty of slab C's run them.
He can run 25560R15 and still clear,IMHO
