if it has always been an 18-spline 4-speed transmission it was/is from a 1968 Charger R/T (440HP or HEMI) - XS29L8B or XS29J8B

Wasn’t 68 the first year of the big 308 bearing in the Hemi/440 trans and the 383 had the 307? If so it would have to be a Hemi or 440 vin.

I'm not entirely sure on the details yet. It's installed in a 64 Ford F100 I just picked up. Supposed to be an 18 spline from what I was told. I was just hoping based on the partial VIN I could know a little more about it or potentially find the original home for it.
