Petty Blue in 1969 - 02/01/19 06:28 PM

A real Petty Blue 1969 Road Runner will be joining us for the "Color Me 1969 Road Runner" display at Mopars in the Park in May/June. Have you ever seen a real 69 Road Runner in Petty Blue? Just a handful have been confirmed all with build dates prior to Richard Petty leaving for Ford in 1968.

The display will have one each of every color offered on the 1969 Road Runner plus Omaha Orange and Petty Blue, the two most ordered non factory literature offerings.

Had a '68 in Corporate/Petty many years ago; sadly, it had been beaten to death and hit everywhere, but some of its parts lived on in another Road Runner.
There was a '69 in that color for sale on the web some time back.

Probably this one.

As I recall, the '69 I'm talking about was a "done" car, and I think it was a HT. Don't recall it having hood stripes, and I don't think it had a white interior.

A real "Petty Blue" 69 Dart Swinger 340 showed up last year, tried to buy it but at least it went to the right person who is going to restore it. I can't wait to see that one done! up

A member here has a real Petty Blue 68 Hemi Road Runner. Unfortunately by the time he got it it had a square tube chassis and a tilt front end. The tilt has been welded back together but its still a full on Pro-street car. I believe it still has the original block as well.

There is a convertible that shows up at our biggest summer car show. I want to say someone from eastern Oregon owns it. All original paint that's faded out pretty good.

Wow, cool. If you could ever snap a pic of the fender tag that would be awesome. There's a real 99 Petty Blue convertible in North Carolina that's being restored.

The guy that owns it never pops the hood. He just drives in and parks it with bug guts all over the front of it and disappears amongst the crowd (900+ cars attend this show so you'd never find him anyways). I have seen the car a couple years now, but have never met the owner.

Rhinodart- That's my Dart. I have it on a rotisserie now. Long way to go but someday it will be Petty Blue again. I wish that I had some history on the car but the guy I bought it from had nothing on any previous owner. He had it twenty years so I cant even go back using DMV records.

Know of a 70 Petty Blue Road Runner close to me, original paint. Another guy has a petty blue RR in town but can't remember if it is a 68 or a 69.

Have a 68 Petty Blue runner in my registry too, 383 car.

That sucks, I was hoping you could find out previous owners and see how it was ordered. Don't forget, if you need anything for the car please let me know, I can't wait to see that on the road again! up

What is the name of your registry? Does it have any specialty areas of focus? Website? What services does the registry provide to the public?

This Petty blue '68 was for sale at a local show in 2014. It was a 999 car and the owner had pictures showing some areas with original Petty blue paint.
