Mystery Bracket

Got this "seagull" looking mystery bracket and I'm uncertain of it's orientation. I know it's Mopar blood lol. Is it some sort of A/C line hold down? It measures 2" in length.

Master cylinder lid clamp. Manual brake with bolt on lid. That center square has been added.

So the center square (which is a threaded nut upon a closer look) was added on? Well that makes sense if the brake master clamp bolt catches the threads on the reservoir, there would be NO need for the clamp to have threads for the bolt.

Maybe someone was making sure that the clamp wouldn't come loose by having two thread sources for the bolt??

Anyway thanks again, what time era/make/model/platform are we talking here?

I think it is one half of a bracket that holds 2 tubes (A/C ?) side by side.

the center square nut seems was born there, not added. ( not saying it is, but just it looks like )

Bracket looks similar to this, but not exactly the same. Maybe some other car?

That is not a master cylinder top bracket. I agree with the other guy, it looks like it holds tubes, or hoses down.

this is from deep inside my old, foggy brain, so keep that fact in "mind" [get it ? ]
anyway, i somehow "think" there was a shoulder on the master cylinder hold down bolt that allowed it to spin and tighten the lid on the master cylinder, and when the lid was removed for servicing, the bolt and retainer stayed together. this made the bolt hard to loose, and insured the correct length bolt was always used with the hold down.
at one time, i had a couple of those style masters around, and they may still be here, but i haven't seen them for years and years.
and if i are "rong", well, just chalk it up to a blabbering old geezer.

Maybe to hold down a folding handle for a jack? (Think Pickup)

You know the folding rod for a scissor jack? Looks like it'd hold that rod when folded.
Only problem with that is the nut; you wouldn't turn the bracket and the double rod to clamp them. So maybe a stand-off that's screwed onto a stud.
At first I though MC lid hold-down, but the square nut wouldn't be there.
Pretty thick for anything like tubing.

Definitely not for a master cylinder.
Want to agree with the truck jack deal, but I seem to remember a wing nut type deal there...
I'd have to go look, but it's too cold and dark for that right now.

To clear things up on whether the square nut was added on or was on there originally, I went ahead and cleaned off the rust and took close up pics.

As you can see in the pics below it sure does look like it was there originally.

So the debate of it being on there is correct.

So brake master cylinder clamp???

why would a master cylinder clamp have a nut on it? I don't think that is what that is. It looks like half of a two part bracket. Looks too stout for an A/C line clamp.

Try asking over at the truck forum, I remember a bracket that held the jack on my 1978 Dodge pickup that looked something like that.

Nope not the truck jack bracket.

There was a bracket on the truck jack that held the rods in place but it was thinner metal and it didn`t have a nut welded to it IIRC. Looks like it may be a trash can item. Really doesn`t look much like a mopar part to me.

The truck jack bracket has two different sized loops IIRC.

How about a hold down for the emergency brake cables??
