What was the last year the 727 was built and is the oil dipstick tube for all 727's the same?

Every passenger car I have encountered had interchangeable dipstick tubes. Perhaps I've just been lucky. lol. Vans and motor homes have the super long tubes. My big block pickup has the same tube that my small block has.

The 727 became the 36RH, I believe the last year was 2003.

All the cases had the same diameter dipstick tube hole, but later models went to a rubber sleeve that fit the reduced diameter tube, and that sleeve replaced the typical o ring design.

That’s being said, you can use any tube you want.

You just have to qualify the dipstick to reflect the correct fluid level.

Don’t focus on how much stick protrudes past the end of the tube, focus on the relationship of the full mark to the end of the tube. It’s been a while since I ran the fluid curves but if memory serves me the full mark should be at the top of the case opening for the tube so measure up from the end of the tube installed to the case ledge for the tube.

With a deep pan you can run it a tad lower if you like. Some people have a theory that the fluid should always be higher than the valve body to case flange and while that is ok, all the fluid level testing included driving the vehicle with angles that always uncovered this flange.

Many different ones.

The strap that goes to the bellhousing bolt is different from SB to BB in the 60's & early 70's.

AC and non A/C have different bends in the tube to clear all the equipment underhood.

1968 and older had a tab welded at the bottom of the tube and a threaded hole in the case to retain the tube. Gone in 1969 and newer.
