2013-2015 Dodge Caravan Hood Rust

2013-2015 Dodge Caravan Hood Rust - 12/08/18 11:59 PM

I went to an auction today and they had 18 2013-2015 Caravans all with bubbling paint due to rust under the surface at the front edge of the hood. It looks like moisture got trapped in the folds of the inner and outer hood panels at the crimped edges causing rust. These vans never had bodywork. Is there a customer satisfaction program in place from Chrysler for this concern? I'd appreciate any input.

Thanks,
Harold

We've seen it too. The hood aparently is aluminum. You might be able to push it thru the rust warranty. Other then that it's probably the type of thing that they might fix under goodwill if you bought the minivan thru a dealer, not so much buying it used or from auction.

Same thing with the 4th gen Ram aluminum hoods

Corrosion

My 2011 has some tiny bubbles up front before I caught it with fluidfilm , trying to spray inside the structure to get into the seams

I had an 03 that had that issue. The prob as I see it ... salt from the roads gets under that seam and ROTS it out. IF ONLY they used some sealent or caulk !!

2008 Avenger and 2008 Town and Country had the same issues. Both were fixed under warranty and both started to show back up. They are out of warranty when I noticed it returning, so no fix after that other than out of pocket. I am guessing it's an issue with the initial making of the hood process. 2014 Durango had a little showing on the sides and had that fixed under warranty as well. Keeping an eye on that as well now.
