Any recommendations on a jig to hold rear end

Looking to make a jig to hold the rear end for tear down, move, paint and installation. I’ve seen a few that like but just wondering if any of you want to share what you have made. I’m thinking of making one like the one pictured.

You might want to add something that can prevent the axle from rotating if needed e.g. when fitting the pumpkin

That’s actually what I don’t understand if you look at the one they on grave yard cars they don’t have any thing preventing it from spinning. It looks like it works really slick though when hooking up to car on lift.

I made a bracket that mounts to my transmission jack. This way I can easily move the rear end around the shop and R&R it from the car.

That's the unit they store the finished product on - along with the engine, etc. The unit they rebuild on is likely better suited to the job.

And more than likely once the springs are installed it is probably more stable and less likely to rotate...

I fabbed up one from some wood I had laying about while I was mocking up my discs.

Nice height for me to work on it standing up next to my bench. Was a grunt picking it up and putting it on the rack, next time I might get my engine hoist out to do it, but probably not.

Cheap and dirty.....

The wood stand looks like the perfect solution for a hobbyist.

that first picture you show it has a gray rubber pad that may limit the tendency to spin----if you had a vice grip with a grip chain it could grip around the axle and the metal plate with the gray pad....thats what i did on my axle appliance.

I used saw horses. Set the spring pad on the sawhorse and c clamp it in place .Works just fine and didnt have to build anything. I dont see a need for a special jig unless you plan on doing rear's all the time.

Some say I'm cheap and lazy...
I'd rather call it quick and efficient myself...

Well got it mostly done, now I’m just going sand blast it and paint it. When I go to bolt in into the car I’ll grab it in closer to the member so I can install it with springs bolted on it. I’m making a round clamp bracket that bolts into treaded studs that are already on my arms.

Cheapest way to work on one that I've found was a 5 gallon bucket with the nose of the housing down in the bucket.

Getting it up there, out, and installed are a different story, but the bucket held it off the ground.

I like how you used the perches to secure it!
