Correct brakes and driveshaft 1970 GTX - 10/27/18 07:55 PM

Hey all. I purchased a '70 GTX a few years ago. After running the numbers on the Dana 60, it tells that it came from a '69 charger with 3.54 gears. My GTX is a A32 axle package car. The driveshaft also has '69 charger written on it with paint like you'd see from a junkyard. The car is not running at the time. So, I wonder if the drums are correct (they are 11" inside diameter) and if the driveshaft will work. I have put it in the local CL for trade, but there are not too many Mopars around here.

I'd post this in the restoration section since it sounds like you are looking for restoration information. If you can read the numbers on the Dana 60 you should post those too.

the BOM numbers on a DANA will only tell you gear ratio & body (not Charger VS Coronet VS GTX/RR)

a '70 GTX w/A32 would have automatic transmission & 4.10 ratio DANA 60 w/10" drum brakes

a '69 Charger DANA driveshaft (~51.0") will be longer than a '70 GTX DANA driveshaft (~50.4")

Thanks. I'll get those numbers and post shortly. I don't know why the image doesn't show...

Mods, can someone move this to the restoration section please?

How do you know by A32 10" brakes on the dana? I though it depended on the front brake selection. B51 disc brake cars got 10 brakes on rear, and Drum Brake cars got 11" even if a Dana.

If A32 included front disc then the Dana would have 10" brakes.

all 1970 A32 & A34 (4.10:1 DANA60) cars came with power disc brakes as part of the package

& 1970 B & E-bodies with power disc brakes have 10" rear drums

603957-2 is a Dana 60 with 3.54 gears from a 68 or 69 model year. Just like you thought.

I'm not sure on the other numbers. Probably a day and month along with a production line code or something like that.
