Are you talking about Performer RPM heads or Victor heads? Hughes Engines Shows their Big Mouth RPM's flowing 322@700. I had mine CNC ported by Modern Cylinder Head. Don't have my flow sheet in front of me but I think they were not that much somewhere in the 310-3320 range. I don't know anything about the Victor's if that's what you are looking at. I know my buddy runs the same cubic inches with the W5's and has run 9.70@136

Shady Dells give flow rates for most of the various Mopar heads.
http://www.shadydellspeedshop.com/cylheads.htm

They put the W5 in the 320-330 area which is similar to the INDY 360-1. The Victor isn't listed by them on the website but my impression is that it is closer to the W7 which is in the 350-370 class. I bet if you called they would have an answer.

Plan on getting new pistons for the new Victor heads.

Why do I have to get new Pistons

Different valveangle is the obvious answer, possibly location aswell.

Victor head is capable of well over 800 horsepower. WAY more thani a W5.
They are capable of flowing 380+ and have a good bit bigger valve than a W5.
Guy i posted about( local to me) made 737 horse at a national dyno competition with a set on a stock stroke 360. And made even more power at bigher rpm than the contest limited the guys to. And that was under 12 to 1 per the contest rules.
I used to have a stout 422 W5 motor than ran well into the 9’s at 3350 pounds. Victor is lot bigger and better head

I would love to put a set on my 422 cubic-inch W5 motor but they're saying I need to change the piston everything I read says they was a direct bolt-on to a stock engine

Wow. Didn't know the victor head was that good. Why isn't everybody running em?

In my opinion because they are expensive, take unique rocker gear and perhaps new pistons.

That being said they may be the best 59 degree head available when properly ported.

Just like 340cuda said. The Chrysler guys are too cheap to buy anything other than stock wrecking yard blocks and stock rockers.

It's silly. I never ever EVER once had a Chevy customer [censored] about buying rockers. Not one single time.

Every time I told a customer you need to find some W-2 heads for this stroker at the minimum I would hear the inevitable whining, crying, bitching, moaning and all the other crap. By the end of an hour of that [censored] I'd say piss on it, buy some edelbrocks and continue on leaving big power on the table so you don't have to buy rockers.

Same [censored] every day. For decades.

Frankly, the whole proposition is expensive enough that I wouldn’t expect pistons to be the deal breaker.

Of course, I doubt I’d bother putting them on a stock block either........ then building it with a good block gets really expensive real fast.

71blackdemon;

Considering the level of the Victor head, building a street or race car with them in a stock block seems kind of silly. As is also NOT taking advantage of there abilities. Now that your at the cross roads of wanting to go faster with a better head, is finding out the limits of a stock block worth the expense when it breaks? After all the money is spent on a stock block, the price of a Ritter block starts to look pretty darn good.

IMO, start a new engine from scratch. You will be way ahead of the game in taking this route.
Beefier block with the new odd angled valve reliefs slugs for a fresh start, sounds like a home run to me. I know it is a lot of money. But if and when you break the stock block, what else goes south with it?

Maybe the fact that they took 4 years to get from the catalog into people’s hands. AND.... in that time our blocks went away. I sold off my W5 stuff and was ready to go all in, and NOTHING! Stumbled into a W8 top end and went that direction.
