Car storage bags

Car storage bags - 10/09/18 04:06 AM

I have to get a car out of my garage for the winter in order to have room to get my Dart finished for spring. I've been trying to find an enclosed trailer to store a car in but haven't had any luck finding one as yet and I'm running out of time before the snow flies. I have seen online these storage bags for cars where you put the car in the bag and zip it up. I would like to know if anyone here has used one of these bags in an outdoor setting and if so, did it work out for the good or would you not recommend it?

I would think they need exterior protection such as a car port, tent, or something like that.

I’ve been using them for years inside, but never outside. It is my understanding they are designed for indoor storage only. Best to contact the manufacturers.

iagree Never seen one for the outside. I had an Omni Bag for my wife's 78 Trans Am for years that worked well in a garage.

I still have a Omni Bag sitting in my shed that my 71 GTX use to live in. The car was sold 20 years ago, so I need to find a new home for it...

I was hoping a car bag was going to be an option but it doesn't sound like it. Hopefully, I can find an 18'-20' enclosed trailer soon.

I have a similar problem. Got to get the Cuda out of the wife's garage spot before it snows. All the local U-Store it places are $100-160 a month for inside storage. I lucked out and found a place in a nearby city that is an old industrial factory that they cleared out and now store boats, cars, and RV's in. Going to be $40/month which I am happy with. Going to be a 15 miles away but it is secure. If you are near Detroit I would think you have a similar place available that would be cheaper than buying a trailer. Unless of course you have other uses for the trailer, then carry on.

If you have to go the outside route, the NOAH car covers from California Car cover will protect it to a point and hold up well in bad weather, especially if you could get it under a car port.

How about a portable garage
Menards and harbor freight sell them
Friend in Iowa used them for multiple years thru the winter. They worked good until tree branch ripped one.
