Can someone give me advice (read) on these plugs?

I pulled these from a running 318. I can't decide if the motor is running right - or rich...also the wet plugs kinda worry me - feels like oil.

Can someone point me in a direction - is the motor or tune ok?

Dual plane intake? No 4 corner idle?

I would try leaning down the idle circuit by turning in the idle fuel mixture screws a 1/2 turn leaner and then go drive it for a 1/2 hour+ and take another look at them to see if they look more to your liking or not
I don't like to see any oil, shiny, on the plug parts inside the combustion chamber, not good
Two or more ways for oil to get into the combustion chambers, bad rings and cylinder walls, bad valve seals and loose valve to guide clearances and or intake manifold gaskets leaking oil into the intake ports, all of them can be fixed
I would do a leak down(or compression test) test first, dry and wet. If good then I would remove the valve covers and look inside the valve springs at the valve seals to see how they appear to you
if those items look good then think about checking out the intake gasket sealing

i'd try a step hotter and do some leaning on the mix. can't see the strap to check timing. i'm finding the gasoline to be gummy; or at least the fuel in my area is. if there's a black "runny-gum" on the plugs let them sit over night and see if the gum dries up. I don't think oil will dry up but gas might.

I will try leaning the mixture. I have new plugs in it, autolite 65's, gapped at 45, due to GM HEI installed.

Will give it a workout this weekend and pull a few plugs and post pics.

I am pretty sure that I have an intake manifold leak somewhere - how does that pull oil into the chambers?

On those motors, SB Mopar L.A. motors, the intake manifold acts as the valley cover over the camshaft and lifters as well as the intake manifold but due to the bottom of the manifold covering the lifter valley oil can be sucked up between the intake manifold gasket and the manifold and heads
The stock and some of the after market intake gaskets are stamped steel, not fiber so they will leak oil into the manifold quicker than the fiber gaskets do

It was a fibre gasket I put on there a few years ago, but did not use any sealant..I was a bigger nube back then

Intake will be off soon enough will address that then.

There is oil on the plugs but that thing is pig rich. Once you get the idle and cruise close you need to start cutting the shells off to look at the fuel ring.

I'd close the gap to .035 as well. The ignition looks a bit weak to me, but it's hard to tell from that angle, especially in a picture.

I agree with closing up the gap to no more than .040. HEI doesn't require a big gap on our mopar engines. Also agree with it being rich.

$150 wideband setup sure helps get rid of a lot of guess work.

The fuel ring forms at the bottom of the porcelain where it meets the shell, the threaded part. If you are careful you can use a hacksaw or a cut off wheel and cut the shell off at the bottom of the threads. It makes it easier to see the fuel ring.

I need to see the center wire and ground wire up close. You should get the oil and fuel cleaned up first and then look at things closer.

I forgot to look at the timing mark to see how close that was.
