65 consul cable shift and park lock - 07/04/18 05:10 AM

Help I took the 5 bolts holding the park lock cable ass. and never saw where the spring attaches. I have looked at dozen of pictures but non show where the end of that spring hooks to the lever. I ran into problems when I pushed the park cable in to the adapter and shoved it in too far. I ended up with that ratchet clicking when turning the yoke. Now I know what I did wrong but cant see where the end of that long spring hooks back up. Any good pictures or just help would be a big help

These pics might help.

Take note, because of the design of the coil spring, it's possible to install the adapter upside down; when properly installed, the end of the spring wire that retains the cable is orientated so that pushing up (through the hole in the housing) on the wire end releases the cable.

Thanks so Much John. I see it now. I must of twisted mine a bit when I took it apart, wondering what that clicking ratchet sound was. I have the pan off and this cover and now see how they all work. That release spring was a BUGG** but have it figured now. I wish at my age I did not have to keep learning these things but hey Im still at it.

Thanks for perfect picture
Ron
