1971 B Body EFI Fuel Tank /// Anyone Make This???? - 05/29/18 04:10 AM

Does anyone (like Tanks Inc.) make an EFI fuel tank for a 1971 B Body - this is a stock looking fuel tank made specially for a submerged fuel pump? I see that Tanks Inc. makes an EFI fuel tank for a 1970 B Body, but I'm sure that there is a difference between a 1970 and 1971 B Body - but I really don't know the answer to that question.

I know I can go the custom tank route, but I would like to know if there's a stock looking fuel tank that would fit the bill for the submerged fuel pump EFI thing?

Holley has a pretty big line up of fuel tanks now so that might be another place to check.

What kind of fuel injection are you looking to run? I also building a 1972 b-body and planning on running a Holley sniper or similar on it. I’m thinking that might work with a stock tank, or am I mistaken?

I saw the Holley tank on one of the tv shows the other day and the tank had the tanks inc logo stamped on it.
Doesn't spectre make efi tanks also?

Yes, the Holley tank is made by Tanks, Inc - but they only list a 1970 or earlier B Body that the tank fits in. I'm not that familiar with a 1970 compared to a 1971 B Body to know if the fuel tanks are similar enough or not?

The EFI that I'm going to be running is the FAST setup with port fuel injection, but that really doesn't matter, what is important is that I would like to have an in-tank fuel pump. They are what all the OEM car makers have used for years, it's quieter and the pumps usually last longer because the fuel actually cools the pumps better. So you need one of these EFI tanks to properly mount the fuel pump in the fuel tank, as well as the proper baffles and sump that also needs to be a part of the tank so there's a more usable amount of fuel available for the pump out of this EFI tank. I'm also going to be running a return line, and an EFI tank usually has a return line fitting figured into their design already too. So there's a lot of benefits if you can find an EFI tank that fits your car right off the bat, and you want an in-tank fuel pump.

Look into the Aeromotive stealth systems if you can't find a tank. Holley also has something similar now.

Look at a SPECTRA PREMIUM CR9DFI

It is on Rock Auto for a just a bit over 300 including the pump.

I used the E body version and I like it alot.

I did the Aeromotive Phantom pump on a 73 tank for my 74. I know its not custom, but so far its working out. No stock baffles, but the pump comes with a big foam one. I did have to bend up the float arm on the sending unit, so my gas gauge is now more of a guideline. Not the answer you wanted, but an option
