Heater/AC delete plates?

Heater/AC delete plates? - 04/14/18 10:48 PM

I removed the heater/ac in my 69 b body now I'm try to figure out what to do with the openings left in the firewall? I'm going to replace it later when I have the $$$...maybe never, but in the meantime...are there block off plates for the engine bay and where can I get them?

I am not aware of block off plates for B body's being used by the factory. When I removed the heater box in my '69 RR (non A/C) I used the following:
(2) 2094985 rubber plugs for the heater hose openings.
(3) 2094984 plastic plugs for the heater box mounting studs.
This was done a while ago so the numbers may have been superseded or even discontinued. Also, as I stated my car does not have A/C, so I would imagine your car probably has more holes in the firewall.

Thanks for the info, to be honest I wasn't even thinking of the little holes for bolts and drain tubes. I'm thinking of making something to mount the original blower motor to seal that hole and using the original heater hose grommet and looping the heater hose thru the firewall so the water circulates and making a plate for the AC control valve hole. It will look like it still has a heater at least and the rest of the smaller heater box mounting holes I'll seal up with some round head machine screws, washers and nuts thru the fire wall.

I’ve never owned a B body with a/c and never realized the blower motor came through the firewall. Non-a/c cars only had 5 holes total...2 for heater hoses and 3 for mounting the heater box. Good luck with your project.

I've done exactly what your thinking about on race cars, made the block off plates out of thin sheet aluminum and painted it the same color as the firewall up Some of the early cars had a steel plate with two holes in them for the heater core ends to stick out of that was held in with one sheet metal screw between the heater hoses, you could do the same thing on the air conditioning hoses also work up
