HEMI air cleaner base plate - 03/16/18 12:01 AM

Today I bought a 426 HEMI air cleaner base plate for 1966 to 1969. All of the air cleaner base plates that I have ever seen have been made out of stamped steel, this one is made out of cast aluminum. Does anyone know the story behind this ?

The holes don't appear to be round ..possibly home made ?

Years ago there was a company up in Canada, named Classic Haulage, that repoped hemi style air cleaners, in aluminum.
I think you have one of their repop's.
They also had one for a single 4bbl base, for the chrome dome air cleaner.
I think the carburetor holes may have been boogered up for some unknown reason.
My .02 cents on the subject.

Carb openings enlarged for typical aftermarket carbs? Not for the small factory hemi carbs.

Classic Haulage still operates today but their bases are nothing like that.
Could be one of their earliest offerings though.
Pretty thick with crude openings,.. definitely nothing the factory made.
