Converting thermoquad to E85 - 11/08/17 01:22 AM
Just wondering if anyone has converted a thermoquad to E85. Just an idea for the 1971 F.A.S.T. Duster.

Sorry, PetroCanada 94 octane is max 10% ethanol...so far (luckily) no need to go down that road.
But...I'm guessing that most of the change would be about jetting richer? Or if you have the meetering rods available take a stab at this by swapping to a richer rod instead of playing with the jets.

Can you even get jets and rods that add up to a 30% increase? Stock ones are hard enough to come by.
Did Mopar ever offer an alcohol strip kit for the Competition Series TQ?

I have not done such a conversion. But others have done so on the AFB & AVS carbs. Follow there leed on drilling out the fuel passages for greater volume. You have to have more fuel for the lower btu return on E85. IIRC, again, lol, I think it is 30% more fuel. Do check that amount!

On jets and rods, the factory, MP or Carter, has never offered a kit to convert to E85 or alcohol use. Metering rods and jets are available from IIRC, the carb shop. This is really a “google question” to search for.
Demonsizzler, who uses to be here and was a master at these carbs used to drill out the air bleed(s) and install Holley air bleeds to further along the tuneable aspect of the TQ. I really don’t know his tricks. So I can’t provide any tips along the modification line.
I can tell you that I have bent AFB rods 3/4 of an inch shorter, and clipped the ends off, to fit the TQ. Since there are many AFB rod choices available, you should be in good shape there.
I have only fiddled around with the TQ. When there good, there great.

QuickD100 on here has some experience with them.

Well, I took some pain to craft a spreadsheet which allows you to compare a whole wack of jet/rod combos...so the answer to the 30% question is: YES, can be done. Of course this depends on your starting point with regular fuel.
PM me if you want to see this, the forum will not allow me to attach a XLS file to a post.
Regarding the Comp Series TQ, I am guessing the answer is NO. The kit I have here is just a mix of jets/rods, similar to the standard TQ kits when they used to be available.
