Police Wheels on A Body - 10/31/17 02:04 AM

Looking to put some Wheel Vintiques 15x7 police wheels on the front of my 1973 Duster, and 15x8 on the rear. Both have 4” backspacing. The rear is a stock A body 8 ¼ with drums and the front brakes are stock rotors.

Does anyone see any potential fitment issues? Rear tires are 255/60/15s.

I ran 235-60-15" tires on 15x6.5 Rallye wheels on this car, 255-60-15s rear.

1975 Dart, I had to run small diameter front tires & they still rubbed on the lower front wheel well lower arch.

my buddy just finished a 72 duster [i know it's not a dart] using a 15x7 with 4"bs wheel, and i found a 205-60 BFG [his choice for tire brand due to having white letters] worked very well with the ride height picked, and cleared the front of the wheel opening by about 1/2". they JUST touch the frame rails in the extreme lock, depending on the terrain, shining the paint off with no damage to the tire. a touch higher ride height [3/4" maybe ?] would eliminate this i believe.

That is my buddies Duster. If I remember correctly those are the cop rims. Tire sizes are 275-60-15's on the rear and 225-60-15's on the front. I do not know the backspacing distance, but I do know the rear springs had the 1.5" offset kit.

Being you are buying new wheels , I would go 15 x 6 and 15 x 8 wheels. The 15 x 6 will give you more clearance in the front. Also unless you are dead set on 275-60-15 tires in the rear , you could get by with 15 x 7 in the rear , with a 255-60-15.
Just my $0.02 in the matter.

I have original 15x7 cop wheels on the back of my swinger with 235/60/15 and they fit with room to spare. Im using same rims on front with 225/60/15 but I have not put them on yet. From everything I have read, they should fit fine.

I agree, but he went a different route and went with Bonspeed rims.
17's up front and 18's in back.
