68-69 B-Body Bucket Seats - 08/23/17 12:11 AM

I have a question regarding the metal spring and wire that unlocks the seat track when the leaver is adjusted. Why is the passenger side an inch longer than the drivers side one? I'm redoing my seats and The guy that is redoing the seats said the passenger side wire was longer and wasn't working on the passenger side locking in the seat track. I have a set of 68 buckets in my basement and figured I would take the wire and spring out and it's the same size as my 69 seat tracks.

I would just shorten the wire you have. Pull the round spring down to release the wire. Pull the wire as far as needed to take up the slack. Bend it back over and straighten the original bend then slide the round spring back over the end to lock it in place. Either that or take a hog ring and attach the wire to a seat spring to take up the slack.

Probably because it stretched over the years.

The release cable/wires are different lengths.

The drivers side is 12 7/8" and the passenger side is 14 3/8" out to out as just did my 1969 Runners bucket seats.

Its a good thing ONE person knows what they're taking about or you'd soon be posting a want ad for those wires !!

What some people will do to get their post count up !!!

The piece thats hanging in the picture on the wire gets hooked to the adjustable J stud. That should take out the slack in the wire.

I agree. There is a "hook" that screws into the front of the seat frame and a flat piece of brass that is bent over on the rear and attaches to the wire and has a hole in the front that attaches to the hook. I tried to take a picture of the one under the seat of my 69 GTX conv. but hard to get a good picture with the seats in the car. Looks like the brass strap is on your wire and just needs to be attached to the hook in the front of the seat frame.
