fastener kit

fastener kit - 08/07/17 11:29 PM

Is it better to use a fattener kit, or just try to source the hardware individually? Primarily interested in the hex bolts with the captive washers. (not sure what the actual factory finish was, black oxide maybe?)
Car is a 1970 Challenger, 340.
Thanks!

Depends somewhat on how accurate/original you're looking for. I prefer to use the fasteners off the car. I've had member Eric Manuel ("3404") do my plating on several cars, and he was reasonable, prompt, and got the finishes right.
Note the markings on the bolt heads when comparing to a kit. You can also try AuVeCo or similar fastener companies.
I've bought interior-screw kits before, but many of the screws had incorrect head sizes: Chrysler used a lot of #8 screws with #6 heads on them.

I'll check out AuVeCo.

AMK I think are the folks for heavier hardware and no I would not buy the kits unless you want easy and wrong in some cases. LINK
