driveshaft # i.d.

the driveshaft # is 3578217 and i've looked but can't find it listed.it's about 54 1/2 center to center of caps and 3.250 dia.with a 727 yoke.any help is appreciated as i don't know where else to look.tia

that part number is most likely out of a 74

could it be a b body with that length?thanks morty

That length and part number did not come up and I do not own a 74 parts book.

You are measuring from the center of the U joint cap to the center of the U joint cap, correct?

3578217 isn't in the '74 Parts Catalog



3578317 is - '74 b-body w/225, 318, 400 & 727 (or PP230) - 53.74" lg. & 3.25" dia.

ya,ctr to ctr of the caps is about 54.5 and it's definately 217.thanks for your help guys

Where are you reading this # (3578217) from? If it's on the yoke, that may be the yoke's p/n. The p/n for the driveshaft is stamped into the shaft. Generally it's located 12-18" from the end and not real visible unless you are really looking.
