New Ram 2500 Questions - 08/05/17 05:34 AM

Bought a new 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 and really enjoy it. My last one was a 2006 2500 diesel and would run away from my new one.
First Question is why do the new trucks have no throttle response in traffic. If I let out of the throttle and get back into it there a high hesitation before it picks back up. My 2016 dually did the same. Not that I'm driving it like a sports car but it's irritating when you can't just ease back into the gas to get moving you have to floor it and wait for it to recover.

Second how involved is deleting the DEF system?

DBW bites.

I think it is programmed in to help MPG when people like my wife drive a car, shes constantly and for no reason on off on off throttle by small amounts and every car she drives gets terrible MPG.

I dont think you can delete the def system where you live, Never drove a new ram but i have a 2004.5 with a smarty touch programmer and its like driving a sports car now, had to rebuild the trans with over 3 grand in just parts to handle the extra hp but its a blast to drive now.

That is the only thing I hate about my 2015 2500, you have to think 2 seconds in advance if you want to get going, especially when you slow down and speed up again quickly. rant I think they put Drive By Wire on the vehicles to keep the engine/trans from taking too much abuse that they really can't handle... work

The delay is built into the software, its emissions related junk. I know there's some programmers out there that can disable it.

The DEF systems are harder to defeat on these trucks. I would not recommend messing with them.
