Engine swap. Which is really easier?

I'm swapping a slant auto to 360 4 speed. I'm swapping drums to disc. I have everything I need for the swap including an 8.75 rear too. Which is going to be easier. Pulling the trans and engine or just lifting the body off the K member ? Would assembling the engine/K/disc/spindles be easier to just do a body over engine? I'm using HP 340 manifolds too if that helps. Which route to go. I have a sizable shop and a cherry picker but no lift.

They can go in from the bottom if you have an engine hoist. You will need a way to support the front of the car and a dolly cart to roll it around on.

You told us everything but what body it is.

Back when I swapped a 360 in place of a 225 in my 72 Dart there were no conversion mounts so I put a later style K member in.

I pulled the /6, then pulled the old K, then put in the new K, then put in the new engine and trans. Took me a full day but I got it done, had to as I was driving it to work the next day.

This is what I think I'll do since I'm swapping K members, brakes, spindles, etc.

I did a /6 to 318 swap once. Without a lift it's easiest to pull the engine and trans first, then put the body on jackstands and drop the K-frame.

Everything out the bottom. Easier if you have a bare k-frame and are adding the control arms, etc after however I have also done it with the front suspension assembled.

In cases like this I always put it in from the bottom. It is much easier to tidy up all the odds and ends like wiring, hoses and such. But you will need a platform to hold the engine/tranny.

I have used a cherry picker before to do this. You will need to fashion a pair of extensions to attach to the bumper bracket mounts on the frame. And you will need to raise the rear and set it on something stable so that the body is roughly level when mating the K to the body.

For installation I lift, slide, drop, bolt
(360/727 going in 72 Demon)
2 furniture dollies, 2 car dollies...and a few wooden blocks

Bottom is considerably easier.

Unbolt the LCAs, remove the torsion bars, unbolt the K-frame and transmission mount and lift away.

From the top, there's a lot of jockeying and it gets pretty tough to do if you don't have another set of hands.

I find through the bottom makes it easier to assemble without scratching, you don't have an engine and trans teetering from a chain.
