Is an Air Grabber switch repairable? (71-72)

Is an Air Grabber switch repairable? (71-72) - 06/11/17 01:33 AM

I think my switch is leaking air. You can hear it when I turn the motor off. I've played with the hoses, the rubber plug they go into and then mount to the switch. Pretty sure that seal is good.

There doesn't seem to be anyway the switch comes apart to repair it and repo's are going for $300.

Any thoughts?

i am not 100% sure about this. but your switch should leak air after the car is shut off. this allows the flap to close on the hood. their is a solenoid hooked into the switch just for this.

now if it leaks air while the car is running then there is a problem with the switch.

I repair original and repop air grabber switches. Most of the time the three nubs on the back , where the vacuum hose hooks up to, are cracked and or broken off. This will cause an air leak. After disassembly for inspection. I machine new nubs they are heavy duty and better fitted to the air lines. These are then inserted into the body. I then reassemble and test the switch with a hand pump and two vacuum gauges. All this and a one year warranty for $100. Shipping included to the US.
