What is the typical difference in time. Has any one ever seen a difference of a year on a numbers matching car.

Are you sure you are reading the transmission date correctly? It uses the 10,000 day calendar.

If you post the numbers here we can translate them for you.

3106=Jan 28 1970 for a May 71 build

with the end of performance looming, lots of odd dates started appearing on cars during the late '71 & '72 model years as inventory was scavenged/used-up/depleted

18-spline? got a picture of the stamping? scope

Agree. I have some late 71 cars and they seem to be all over the place with the parts used.

It's a 23 spline. I did read that hemi parts sat on the shelf. But can't find anything about non hemi trans.

Hmmm .... I have a 71 Challenger 340 with a 520 SPD and a 23 spline transmission.

Maybe I should check when it was built
