Need Help - 69 Roadrunner for a Friend - 05/15/17 09:37 PM

Fellas -

Need some help. I sold my 68 RR and 71 GTX about 10 years ago and haven't had a Mopar since. Have been living overseas for the past 5 years (military - stationed in Korea and now Italy) so I'm really not up to speed on values these days, either.

Anyway, I just received an e mail out of the blue from a friend who is interested in a 69 RR. I could use some expert opinions on this particular car. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of the color, but I do like the bench seat and 4 sp. Here's the link:
https://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/3716861.

My buddy isn't a mechanic. He's interested in a turn-key car, but it doesn't have to be immaculate. Just wants a nice driver for the family to cruse around in on weekends.

Your thoughts are sincerely appreciated.

I like it if it is solid with before paint pics for 25k to save money for ps and pb.

Other than the wood grain wheel, tach and lack of power brakes, that's EXACTLY how my car rolled off the line !!

It has p/s .. you can just make out the pump cap in one of the photos. Probably has drums on the front though.

Nice looking RR. I like the color, a plus is it hasn't been color changed.
The main thing I see wrong is it may be missing the fender tag.
No mention or pic of it and it's not on the fender in the engine pic.
There is a broadcast sheet.
If the car is solid, runs good, has tight steering and suspension, good brakes and IF the fender tag is there to support the options currently on the car (like the V21 hood stripes), IMO it's worth the asking price.
With FT, offer $26K to start. Without FT, start at $24K.

Really appreciate all the input, fellas. Good point on the fender tag. My main concern is whether the car is solid or not. The dealership that has it is in Wyoming. My buddy really needs to find someone to go look at it -- someone that can spot shoddy bodywork.

Suspect some rust and abuse issues, the wheel wells in the rear look dented in ( trunk photo), no spare tire, did they bother to add the brackets when they changed the trunk floor?
And
the trunk/ wheel wells should be body color, not black.

Looks good in the pics. I would like to see close up pics of the rear window corners and lower quarters You can see several things wrong that could be easy to correct if that is important. I would want someone to look at it in person before spending that kind of money. It probably doesn't look as good in person as in the pics. A lot of times they don't.

From the owner, "My folks decided to make room in the shop for a motor home is why the cars are for sale. 1 owner since 97. Restoration started in 2000, many receipts and a build sheet. Tires seam to have very few miles on them 80 plus percent tread [probably dry rotted] and needs nothing mechanically. Quarters have been replaced and left front fender, all other metal shows original overspray and has no rust holes just surface. Interior is very nice, has all the right parts and materials. All the gauges work, wipers are the only thing that doesn’t."

I have more pics. Gaps look pretty good on the body with the exception of the trunk lid, which is kind of wonky. Undercarriage does not appear to have been restored, but appears to be in fairly good condition. Floors do look like they are original. Fender tag is AWOL; presumed to be lost.

Will try to post more pics later. Thanks again for all of the input.

As said, ABSOLUTELY (as I'm sure you know) have a critical person (shouldn't be too hard to find!) eyeball it in person from head to toe. that's alot of dough.

Couldn't agree more, but this is my buddy's deal, not mine, so that's going to be up to him.

Car is near Jackson Hole Wyoming; not sure if we have any members nearby.

My buddy sent me 20 additional pictures. Would take some time to post them all here. Wondering if some of y'all with some B-Body expertise (or paint/body expertise) wouldn't mind taking a look. I really would appreciate another set of eyes here.

If so, please pm me your e mail addy (or post it here) and I'll send to you.

Thanks!
