I've heard from others that the underside was left unpainted but most doors I've seen at shows look a flat black to me.

The entire airgrabber door is molded out from a high temperature black molded material, top is typically painted the black textured but the bottom is left unpainted in its natural black color..

Just my $0.02... wink

Are 70s completely different material than 71s? Here's one from an original 71 hood I own. The base material is white with red primer over it and not much black overspray on underside.
