98 ram 1500 brake issue, help!

Hey everyone, my 98 ram 4x4 keeps having a brake caliper sticking issue. I have replaced caliper couple of times,new pads, bled brakes til I'm blue in the face.it will drive fine for awhile, then the driver side caliper will start applying brake while you are going down the road. When I stop you can smell brake pad,and wheel is hot. Thanks for any suggestions.

Replace the brake hose to the LF. It's likely collapsed.

Agreed, common problem on the Ram rust buckets, if it ain't gas tank straps rusting out it's brake lines, including rubber ones, they usually get built up with rust inside allowing the caliper to retain pressure, I'd replace ALL the rubber lines upfront, been there, done that

I had the same problem on a '98 Neon. New hoses fixed it (thanks MOPARTs). Agree with the hose recommendation.

next time it does it, pull over & crack the bleeder (open it then shut it) & see if that releases it. EDIT do it if possible on a deserted stretch of road & go aways WO hitting the brake & see if it cools off/or stays free.

another option on this same approach is to crack the banjo bolt. this is "if" your bleeder screw is really rusty, and the banjo bolt is easier to get to with the front wheel cranked the whole way to which ever direction offers the best access to the bolt.

I usually replace the rubber hoses when I replace the caliper just for that reason.
