Is this VIN a legit factory restamp?

IMO - YES

is there a correct matching 340 in that car, what's that VIN stamp look like?

trans assembled Tuesday 1/13/70
attempted to be installed in a Challenger mid-February '70 (I'd assume a problem of some kind)
installed in a 'Cuda two week later (after being fixed/other)

Someone could have forgotten to roll the dials between cars if they were back to back on the line, the VINs are certainly close enough for that. It would be cool if that car surfaces.

Compare this stamping to the one on the block also.

OK, I screwed up and posted the wrong pic.

I recently took a pic of a block with two of the VIN characters that are hard to read. As I was looking that pic, I saw orange paint in this pic and thought it was a pic I took 5 years ago of another restamped block VIN, never noticing the PP833 stamp.

I can't find the pic from 5 years ago. The block was reported to have come out of a BS27R0. It also has a hard to read VIN stamping, possibly a restamp, or an effort to cover the VIN. My buddy bought it 10-12 years ago from a racer that ran Top Fuel in the early/mid '70s. I'll go back to my buddy that has this block and get another pic.

I'll start a new thread with the block VIN with the two hard to read characters. It's out of a B body.

Sorry for the F*** U*.
