school me on bell housings and flywheels

I have recently acquired a 63 plymouth B body station Wagon.

It is a 3 on the tree car. Engine and bell/flywheel are gone ( was a slant 6) but the trans/linkage/driveshaft are all still there.

I have a 413 big block that I want to run in this car. standard 6 bolt flange style crank.

I also have a 143 tooth flywheel and clutch from a 71 318 3 spd 1/2 ton truck. For that matter I have the trans and bell housing too. It was also a 3 on the tree.

The 318 is neutral balance like the 413, so for obvious economic reasons, I'd like to use the clutch and flywheel with my 413.

My question is, what bell housing can I use with this flywheel, and what BB applications would have had this bell housing?

Big Block and Small Block Bells are different.
There are also 10.5 and 11" clutch versions of the Big Block Bells, which means different flywheels.
There are also Internal and External Balance Flywheels.

The transmissions are specific to Body. A, B or C. Unsure of truck but van has a unique mounting. Shifter location was standard on B Bodies.

Driveshafts before 65 Had a Ball and Trunion Mount vs. 65 and later Sip Yoke.

If you are drag racing you may be required to run a blowproof Bell.

I believe you will need to look for a 68-69 cast iron bell housing casting #2892626, if your trans has the 4.805 diameter input bearing(308) retainer, or 67 cast iron bell housing casting #2843234, if your trans has the 4.354 input bearing(307) retainer.

A little FYI for you, if you have a transmission with the small front bearing retainer (307 bearing) you can still use the easier to find (cheaper?) 68-69 cast "626" bell housing if you use Brewer's "adapter" front bearing retainer "BR-695 BEARING RETAINER 4.805" DIAMETER 307 BEARING 23 SPLINE NEW CAST IRON" available here......http://www.brewersperformance.com/products.asp?cat=228. A moot point if you have a transmission with the larger front bearing retainer already.

I wouldl ook for a Ansen or Lakewood scatter shield with the big hole for the larger input bearing retainer Not one for the Hemi with the 170 tooth flywheels and direct drive starters They came with a adapter ring so you could use either size front bearing retainer and they came with starter nose adapter to use either the 143 tooth for the 11.0 inch clutch or the smaller diameter 130 tooth flywheels for the 10.5 inch clutches
I'm not sure about the Quiktime bell housing though

You do not want to use an 11" bellhousing and flywheel in the early B. It screws up the clutch linkage. 10.5" stuff will bolt in and work correctly without modifing anything.

a little FYI for you ... 68 and 69 are different bell housings , one is 626 , the other is 262 ... last 3 digits of casting number ... the 68 doesn't have the 3 speed pattern on it , the 69 does ... Both require a 143 tooth flywheel.
