Getting ready to paint my car and was wondering if I should use the 2 part urethane or the original enamel. Its over 50 years old and still polishes up in spots so I am wondering about clear top finish. When it goes the whole thing needs to be redone. I have a 2004 chevy that the blue roof started to haze. Paint shop had to redo the complete roof down to metal. So if I decide to go base coat/clear coat, am I able to do the jambs and engine compartment with enamel (super cheap) or would flaring it into the base coat be tricky?

You can spray the jambs and trunk, engine compartment in acrylic enamel and backtape them when you shoot the BC/CC.

Why not do the whole car in enamel? I've done a few full cars in acrylic urethane single stage and I like it, has more gloss than enamel.

Did our 300 B in single stage Deltron in 1986, came out spectacular, depth and gloss like a fine 2 stage and 30 years later not a single flaw, crack, rock chip, etc. Extremely resistant to scratching or rocks. Inner front fender panels behind front wheels still perfect.

Better do it soon as single stage enamel is getting very hard to find
