340 engine build date VS production date - 08/31/16 11:05 PM

I am looking at a car that is a 1970 340 with a build date of 11/18/69 and a production date of 3/03/70 car was built in Hamtrack.
Does this seem correct?

Was engine assy date 11/18/69?
If so My both Cudas have a SPD of 4/18/70 , but the 340 engine assy dates are late January 1970 for both cars. Was not always 1st in 1st out.
Carbs where dated January also
Hope this helps
Bob

11-18-69 sounds like a casting date?

The actual final assembly date is part of the engine serial number (not to be confused with the VIN) on the front of the block below the drivers side head surface.

The date there is in the 10,000 day calendar format.

Yes date on engine is 11/18/69 CASTING ON ENGINE.....

SPD is 3/03/70

Check the serial number on the front & report back.

My 417 SPD T/A had an engine assembly date of April 22, so I know the car was built later than the 'hoped for' SPD.

Example engine was assembled Tuesday, January 20, 1970. This is the stamping we need.
