Leak near manifold. Video incl.

I just got done installing fuel pump and filter and I'm happy to say the car now starts in 1 second from cold on the first try. But now another problem popped up. I'm trying to find out what's causing it and if it's related to the fuel pump installation. I was very meticulous about the installation and I don't hear any strange noises from the fuel pump, engines sounds healthy and fires right up. The problem is a leak of what appears to be coolant on the drivers side near the manifold, see red arrow in attachment. The video shows water boiling at the same spot the red arrow is pointing to in the picture.

Would locating this bolt and tightening it stop the leak? I believe the gasket is very new (a few months).

No, it won't stop the leak. I think the leak is coming from the head and coolant is seeping down to where you see it, on the collector. You'll probably have to take the bolts off from the collector and take the manifold off. Could be a cracked head is the worst thing.

First thing, how long was the car running till you noticed it smoking? It didn't do it before, that you know of? You changed the fuel pump and this just started? Then read previous comment

Look around for a auto parts store that sells the Alumseal brand of stop leak and buy the small container and use it (follow the instructions ) It is not uncommon for BB Mopars to leak coolant from around the exhaust studs, especially in areas (lie yours)that have corrosive water

The stock heads were rebuilt about a month ago, new water pump, oil pump, pushrods, lifters and gaskets. This was done by someone else as my automotive skills are beginner level. I changed the fuel pump and filter myself a couple of days ago, car starts right up no weird noises and no leaks around fuel pump and filter. The car has about 30 miles since the head rebuilt and have not been pushed in anyway, slow driving. I didn't notice the leak until after the fuel pump installation. I did not touch anything over on that side of the engine. I used a finger full of grease to hold the pushrod up during fuel pump installation. The car had been running for about 2 minutes when i noticed the smoke.

Uhhh . . .is that a bolt or a stud ??? You do know that it goes into the water jacket of the head . . . drain the coolant, remove the manifold, and take the stud out and use some pipe dope to seal the threads . . . if it is a bolt, then just drain the coolant, remove the bolt, hit it with the pipe dope on the threads, and reinstall . . .

This has NOTHING to do with your fuel pump replacement , the fuel pump is on the opposite end of the engine.

The shop that pulled the heads is responsible for this leak , you paid them good money take it back and find out what they did.

1 of 2 things happened , either the stud came out of the head when they pulled the tube nut out , or the stud broke off and whomever repaired it did something wrong.

thread sealer needs to be used , assuming the threads in the head aren't all boogered up , but to do this properly the cooling system needs to be drained , the stud pulled and the coolant cleaned from the hole in the head and the stud.

Or use a bottle of Moroso ceramic seal. any of the head gasket/cooling system stop leak stuff has the potential to clog the radiator and/or heater core...

Thanks, it is also my feeling this has to do with the valve job rather than my fuel pump job. I will contact the guy, seems like it is something that sould be under warranty.

The OP was just stating what he did himself about the pump. I was inquiring if this was leaking just now or has been for a while or??? Just trying to get more info as to the leak. We know pump has noting to do with this leak.

I only noticed the leak after I had done the fuel pump.

Regarding your leak. If someone else rebuilt your heads and did all of that, make sure you bring it to their attention NOW. Don't know if they did anything to the studs or not.

Another thing. IF anyone was to do ANY work on my car, you can bet your rear, I'm there watching them at least. You also should've looked things over after they did it and after you have driven it.

That bolt location is wet (threads into water jackets) on stock heads. This is not a big deal. Probably just need to pull the bolt and coat the threads with anti-sieze compound, reinstall and tourque per spec. Should stop the leak.

Worry not. This is probably not a big deal. Just one of the things you regularly deal with when owning / driving a 50 year old car.

Good to hear, insane that bolt goes straight in to the water jacket.
