re-arch rear leaf springs?

Or just buy new? I have the original HD? springs '69 440 automatic.

There is a place local that does re-arching, and was thinking of bolting the front drivers side sections.(yes i have carbide drills) Have clamps all over them now and they look pretty bad. Nearly 50 year old springs, don't know?

Super Stocks at Mancinis' are pretty cost effective, but have read they are pretty stiff? Perhaps the 3400 rate ones would work? '69 Coronet R/t auto

I restored an original 69 Charger r/t and wanted to use the original leaf springs but they were sagging from age. The local spring shop disassembled the leafs and re-arched them to the correct ride height. Had the car for 6 years after finishing and they held their height perfect.

Redid the ones on my kids 62 300.Had a leaf added and an 1inch extra arch added.He drove the crap out of it and sold it like 15 years later.Still runs them today.They are better than and ones you can but today.Our local spring shop did them I even bought a new set from them they had for my 57 Chrysler.Would have mine rearched but they had busted mains and pieces missing.The new ones I got had at least 3 inches of dirt on them from sitting sinc probally the 60s.Rocky

recently there was a comprehensive thread on the ins & outs of this. I would clamp the spring aways in from the center bolt on each side with C clamps then remove the nut with a nut cracker (the threads past the nut tend to get messed up from road debris & you dont wanna snap that special bolt) then have the shop put some arch into the main leaf. first I would jack up the rear bumper while measureing to see exactly how much height you are after. You might wanna check ujoint angles afterwards & I'm assuming you have enough shock extension/brake flex hose length

If its a good shop they will have specs for the factory arch.Even new they didnt sit very high.1 Inch over is really nothing.Rocky

Re-arching can be done at home too if you have a press. You mentioned bolting. You can't do that, only one pin allowed somewhere near the middle. If you put another bolt in it the leafs can't slide and it will cease to be a spring. Clamping it does some of that as well, but it keeps the leafs from separating on launch. Best of luck to ya!
