US car inboard spring kit - 07/12/16 08:28 PM

Anyone use their kit?Thinking about getting one for the 65.Looks like that the front will be easy and pretty much where it is supposed to be when you bolt it to the old hanger spot and then weld it in.Have the MP kit but havent installed it yet.Rocky

I have not seen the US tool kit, but it may be more refined than the MP kit you already have. And it must be better than the one I made for my Coronet in 1980, it was very heavy duty (I always over engineer stuff). I would use the one you have.

When you get the kit, make sure the plates are square - the welding process will have pulled the plates in at less than 90*.

They are very "robust".

When you order them, have them put multiple spring hanger holes in (no extra cost).

The ability to bolt them into position for welding is debatable. Sure it holds them in for welding BUT it also eliminates the ability to weld down the outer side of the frame rail.

Hey Rocks -
You got a link to that kit? I'm wondering about getting one for my '65. Couldn't find it myself.

Thank you for your helpful response. I've been to the US Car Tool web site this evening (twice) and was unable to locate a sales page for an early B Body spring relocation kit.

Maybe you can help me out. Or maybe you can just contribute more smart - a** comments...

Ramrod thats the kit.Has multiple holes for springs if I read it right.Thinkyg that bolting it in makes it pretty strong.Look at the plates now just bolted in and holds the spring.Looks like it dosent have to be cut as much as the MP kit also.Rocky
