Big block oil pan question - 05/04/16 05:07 PM

Anyone know the part number of a factory big block oil pan to fit a 67 Plymouth belvedere? I have the "187" pan which I think is a c-body? Dont want to bolt on and later find out it won't work in a b-body. Any help appreciated. Thanks!!

That pan will work in you car , no internal baffles though.

A 402 pan will work and has baffles, preferred would be the 70-71 Hemi pan , 1 qt more capacity and doesn't hang 3 inches below the K frame.

Look at mancini , both the 402 and the hemi pan are repopped , I would do the hemi pan , unless this is a stock resto then the 402 would be the correct pan.

Just a cruiser to drop the top on on pretty days and hit some car shows. Thanks again!!

402 pan is Original in a b-body, but it takes a special oil pickup tube / screen. The one from the 187 pan does not fit.

There are only two stock pick-ups, the straight unit without a baffled pan and the double curved unit for the baffled ban. BTW, same curved exact unit for the A-Body 893 pan also. wave

There are also various aftermarket added capacity pans w/pickups...cheap. Look on ebay.

I would be careful about the 70-71 Hemi pan because the sump is moved forward and can hit the K-member. '66-'69 Hemi and '69 440-6 is a good choice.

K member shape is the same so 70-71 pan shouldn't be an issue other than it will be level with the bottom of the K so a skidplate wouldn't be a bad idea .

69 440-6pk used the 402 pan , not the 66-69 Hemi pan which require a skid plate because it peaks past the bottom of the K. The pickup for the 402 is readily available.

Sorry , though you meant well but any deep sump pan that hangs 2-3 inches below the K is a horrible choice for a street cruiser .
