TTI vs Accurate exhaust

TTI vs Accurate exhaust - 02/21/16 08:20 PM

Looking for some opinions.I'm going to replace the exhaust system on my 69 GTX vert.440 has a stock intake, carb, exhaust manifolds, slightly larger cam,355 gears.I was leaning towards the TTi 2.5in system because of the larger pipes all the way back plus the mandrel bends.would this be the better choice over the factory Accurate system.also if I go with the TTi should I use the accurate tips. Thanks for the input.

At your power level, you would probably not see much difference. That said, the TTI will flow much better and support more HP if you upgrade in the future. The price is a wash, I would go TTI, and have, on two of my cars.

Yes, the mandrel flows better. Are you going with a "H" pipe or "X" pipe?

Another option is the pypes system and have a set of pipes made to go from the stock manifolds to the x pipe...
440 with mufflers or 315 with out... all stainless... I have a shop that makes the down pipes for $125 a set, pypes told me they will be producing the down pipes soon... I am sure if you didnt care about stainless you could get the down pipes for $75 a set...

It would be nice if the tti was stainless...

do you have a link? I thought their back systems where aluminized with the options of raw or ceramic coated, I didnt know they offered stainless?!?!?!?! How much was the stainless system, I know with the pypes system you end up around $575 complete with the down pipe expense....

Talk to Mike Raby at TTi, they will custom bend stainless certain times of the year. When ordering, add "SS" at the end of their item number. At first I bought the Pypes, "X" pipe back, but it didn't fit right. Oh you can also buy stainless steel headers from TTi.

Do you have a picture of your system? Do you remember the cost? I used 1 pypes system and have another one waiting to go in, and it fit with no issues for us on a 69 charger, we hung the x back (it fit perfect), and then had the muffler shop make the down pipes.. So for the price a full stainless system under $600 was a no brainer... I know another guy who used the pipes system but bought the tti down pipes (coated) and he got it to work..

TTI tips do not look correct.

Accurate's with their special flowing mufflers would be a great choice for fit, sound, and sound level.

I'm running Accurate on my GTS. It's the stock system with their high flow mufflers. Really like the sound, no drone. I had TTI on my 71RR. The fit was a little too close to the floor.

Driving by Accurates shop one day I stopped to purchase their "Hemi" mufflers.. I was going to have my car towed to the muffler shop ( I was just finishing the resto) and have them run the pipes using the mufflers.

Ended up purchasing their whole system for my car.. Installed it in my garage ( my guess is it saved me over $200 in towing fees) and I have never looked back.. Probably ten years ago??

Not sure if I lost 5 horsepower with non mandrell bent pipes...LOL ..... Very happy here ... I wish everything I purchased installed and lasted this long with NO issues....

Ka-Boom! Perfect for your car, great factory fit and sound.

I am extremely happy with my complete Accurate system. Purchased the TTI years ago and had to make many "adjustments" to it. TTI sells a nice product, but it isn't really friendly to the "do it yourselfer".

Mine is a 69 Charger too. Here's some pictures of it mocked up, still in the works, nothing is tighten. The system was around a grand and shipping was around $35. I had a valve cover and power steering box leak, don't mind the mess. Do you have pictures of the Pypes installed and the down pipes?

Wow as my TTI system was so simple to install as everything fit perfect as I used the 3" X-pipe system all the way out the back. I have been 100% pleased with my TTI system. I was surprised to hear yours was not an easy fit since my fit so good. Ron
