BB valve cover markings

BB valve cover markings - 11/24/15 01:36 AM

Previous posts have posited that the grease pencil markings on a valve cover are the last three of the engine assembly's part number. I have a 1968 383/4bbl/4spd motor and can't seem to find the info in the white books. (the broadcast sheet is non-existent). The original markings were visible as either 709 or 769 I think, but I couldn't be sure due to the age and deterioration.. Anyone have this info ?

Thanks

what body (a-body, b-body or Road Runner/Super Bee)? A/C?

'68 Charger 383 4bbl 4-speed w/o A/C = 709 - would be the same as a Sport Satellite

My bad, it's a '68 Sport Satellite convertible, 383/4bbl, 4spd, p/s, non-a/c car.

Thanks for the reply. up
