Car for sale locally, now has a hemi in it...but something doesn't add up here. Must be a repop tag? A53/N44 H code car???

What a mess . I love the N42 chrome tips without the N41 dual exhaust .
And what clown would paint a Vitamin C car , Curious Yellow, which was not even available in 1970 (or perhapes it's FJ5 , in the sunlight?). Throw in the Trans -Am package which would not be available for another 4 more months , some side exit exhaust etc. and the result is a well screwed up tag .

Back to the topic. What is an "8S23"?

B = Barracuda.

S = Barracuda 'cuda(70-74), Barracuda 'cuda AAR(1970).

23 = 2-door hardtop.

All part of the VIN.

Either the pic is horrible or the "B" is, as that looks a lot more like an "8" than "B"...

I think Jose Feliciano and Ronnie Milsap had a hand in this as well .

It does look like an 8.
When you compare it to the top two/thirds of the R, they have the same rounded shape, so it must be a poor attempt at stamping a B.

Every B in that tag looks just like every 8.
