At the Nats, on the show side there was a 65 dart from Sweden, that was in the concours tent and it had a plastic fuel filter, what yrs did they use them?

i will say zero. to my knowledge, all came with the metal can. plastic filters are replacement brand filters.

I believe the early max wedges and race hemis used plastic filters.

Some cars must have used them as I saw more than one vender selling them at the nats.

Yes, 64-65 Race Hemi's and 66-67 Street Hemi's as well as some other non HP engines of the era used them. Max Wedges and Long/Short Ram engines used a different plastic filter with a steel end cap at one end.

This is the Max Wedge Style (NOS)

Here's the Hemi style, an original used next to the current reproduction.

The repros are better than nothing but are a far cry from perfect, the logo is not the same for starters.

So far I've only seen the blue logo style on 66-67 Street Hemis, there was also a red logo style that might have been used as well, or used on Race Hemis.

This is an original 67 fuel line set up with OEM filters. Notice the fuel hoses are stamped "EB" and not "KV" as replacements all are.

They went on as a complete setup right after the engine was painted.

Scott I have 4 NOS filters ,they are carter's with a little sticker(not sure if these have been applied). Maybe you could tell me if they are Maxie's ?
They look similar to the ones you poste but theses are carter's.

ossietim,

I've never seen that style on an original production line engine. I'd guess that those are replacements (about as close to originals as you'd find but still replacements). Cool old parts either way!

My 65 Plymouth 383 Survivor still hands the original plastic fuel filter on it.
