Lets discuss 80s and 90s FWD Mopars - 07/09/15 10:24 PM

I am looking at a few FWD (mostly LeBaron) conv and I have a few ques.
What web pages discuss these cars?
Are brake/suspension parts still available at Napa/CARQUEST etc.?
If not, what companies/junkyards sell parts?
How hard is it to change the plugs on a v6?
Thanks

The V6 cars are pretty solid. The digidash stuff has the occasional problem.

You can learn some stuff from the Turbododge forum but I don't know of any forums specifically for the V6 cars.

Gary Donovan may be able to offer a bit more assistance but he has a strong preference for the turbo cars.

Mostly, some may have to be pulled from a warehouse as they are not that popular anymore. I grabbed a spare timing belt for the CSX for example and only Autozone had one in stock and on the shelf.

Depends on the parts. What are you looking for?

Can always try http://www.car-part.com/

I just restored an 87 CSX and found most of what I was looking for on Ebay, forums and my storage garage ;-)

Front is easy, rear is tougher but I have done far worse.

To see what is available, find the car, do a little research at Rockauto.

Generally, the hard parts are available for the older stuff. I have had good luck with my '64Dog. It's stuff like door latches where the difficulty starts.

LeBaron automatic trannys are to be avoided.

Any ultramatic that had the fluid topped off with the wrong kind, almost instant death. The earlier 4 speed autos can be swapped with a 93 up and you clip one wire on the controller. Or the heavier duty parts can just be put into the older version.

Most problems with them were caused by wrong fluid or bad sensors that tranny shops told owners needed a trans rebuild so they could charge more.

No.

The V6 does come in both three and four speed versions.
