Hello everybody maybe somebody can help me out here...took my car out for a spin running fine...get out on the highway for a bit and when I get off the highway to the off ramp the car wants to stall out. Never did that before the ride. Happens after your riding along and you come to a stop light or stop sign. Has this ever happened to anybody? The car has sat since last year....bad gas? Timing off? Ignition coil? Ballast? I don't know I checked everything was just the way it was last year any help would be appreciated.

trying to read between the lines, is it stalling when the throttle gets closed? You might take out the idle mixture screws and shoot a 3 second blast of starting fluid into each port then replace the idle mix screws. Before you remove them screw in CW to lightly seated & count that number of turns to easily return them to their orig position and I put the same screw into the same hole it came out of (OCD). mod the plastic nozzle on top of a can of starting fluid slightly so you can affix a thin red straw to it so you can get up in the ports. Holler how it turns out

my guess is bad gas. 10% ethanol gas goes bad in a short time sitting.

I noticed in my fuel cell you could see it seprated with moisture in it.

got down to mine sputtering/popping/not running, then a good flush with NON-ETHENOL gas fixed it righ back up with nothing else.

I did have to drain carb to remove water in the bottom of bowls along with draining the lines/pump/cell.

it only sat about 2 months here in Fl. summer heat.

it sitting from last yr would need fresh gas if it is 10%-E crap.

did it have summer blend or winter blend.

I have noticed getting bad gas when they change out for the season. price drops and they sell it off before it ALL goes bad.

I don't buy gas when 1/2 the pumps out of 15 are not working/tanks low and they are emptying it out.

I wager bad gas.

Possible marginal wiring to ignition coil, anywhere from ignition switch thru any connectors, ballast to the coil. If any point along the way you have corrosion, marginal connectors, stranded wire compromised, you will have much higher resistance, thereby lessening the voltage the coil will see. Engine may still run but not well,,,particularly at idle.

Run a jumper from battery to plus side of coil bypassing all these potential issues for a quick 5 minute test. Best to disconnect existing plus wire on coil while running this test.

Not ruling out bad fuel or compromised carb however, particularly as car been sitting for quite some time.
