Cruise control on my road runner

Cruise control on my road runner - 05/18/15 01:49 AM

Hey people i am having an issue of my leg hurting and cramping really badly when driving the road runner for anymore then a say a 1/2 hour straight.

I think if i had cruise control that would help the issue as i could take my foot off the pedal on long trips. My other vehicles i drive don't give me any problems as they all have cruise control.

Anyone ever done that to an older car if so who sells a kit for it??

Thank you for your time.

Rostra is the only name that comes to mind for me.

I grabbed two complete cruise setups off cars in the junkyard. Look for aspen/volare/diplomat/5th ave. Many of them had it. I haven't tried them out yet, but they're simple cruise units. Vacuum can has in/out for the speedo cables and only a few wires to hook up. Installation looks like it will be simple and straightforward.

I use to have a issue with that. I had too much spring on my carb.

Yes, i am going to try to reduce the spring tension on the throttle if i can first but i think it's still not going to help that much.

I just installed a cruse control on my 69 Bee. I used the Dakota Digital cruse, which is actually a Rostra. Easy to install and works great.

Trans type should make no diff. The cruse connects to the throtte linkage.

Speed sensing is trans dependent with the kit his looking at.

Yes, point is though, it's trans type dependent.

JC Whitney used to have one that worked off a sensor on the driveshaft...

All he needs to do is order the kit for his trans type. The only diff in the kit is the type of speed sensor used. I've installed several of these things using electronic speed signal from the ECU and cable driven signals using the kit supplied speed sensor.

If installing on any vehicle that does not have an electronic Vehicle Speed Sender (VSS) or does not have a GM- type speedometer cable please order the CRS-3000-4165. The CRS-3000-4165 kit includes a magnetic drive shaft senders where magnets SEN-4165 are attached to the drive shaft to create a speed signal.

Try replying to the post in question. What trans does he have?

Yes, I was following along. The E means electronic control, bet you have a VSS? Which pretty much tells you which kit to pick.

Never much cared for the magnets on the drive shaft setup, what happens when the zip tie fails, and it will.
