Will 1973 polara disc brakes swap to a 66 fury or is the scarebird route a better option?

direct bolt in.
you only need the spindles and stuff attached to it. you can reuse your old upper and lower ball joints and the a-arms.

I would probably take the proportioning valve.
the booster will interfere with column shift too, but it will bolt in.
you just won't be able to get into low.

you can use the original drum one, but it doesn't supply enough boost, plus the master won't have a big enough resevior for the discs.
you can stop, just not lock them up.

I am doing the same exact swap exact my brakes are from a 73 New Yorker. I found a master cylinder/booster on Summit for a 69 Fury that is a dual diaphragm booster that shouldnt interfere with the linkage. I think it is 150 bucks.

any parts from 65-73 should work.
if you can find an early disc brake car with the dual diaphram it will work. but most of those are pretty expensive.
you will have to let us know how the 69 one works out.

If you have a console shift, the 73 booster will work OK as there is no shift linkage to interfere with.

I have a booster off a 69 300 in my 66 New Yorker and while I can't swear that it will work with a column shift, (mine has a console) I do believe it is the smaller diameter dual diaphragm style which "should" work with the column shift linkage.

I think you can find it on any disc brake C-body up to 71.

ah, you will have to let us know what you actually get.
that looks like the master power brake setup.
giving you a chevy master.
but the picture might not be what you get.

Yeah, it really annoys me that nowadays they can't take the time to put the correct picture of what you are actually buying. I did call Summit and make sure it would actually be a rebuilt master for that model year car.

The dual-diaphragm was used until 70, 71 started the large single diaphragm.

To expand on soemthign already mentioned:
Do *not* use a drumbrake booster for discs. It will work OK for normal use, but under heavy braking it will not provide enough boost for discs, so your braking will be reduced from what it should be.

Hasn't been mentioned yet, but C-bodies use different pedal setups between MB and PB, so if going to PB make sure to use a PB pedal.

I have manual discs on my 68 Fury and the braking is very good and has similar feel to the manual drums (meaning longer pedal travel and good modulation).
